How Sidao Tech, LLC handles information when you use PlateThis.

Last Updated: August 9, 2026

Sidao Tech, LLC (“the Company,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) highly values your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you visit our website at https://www.platethisai.com/ and use the PlateThis mobile application (the “App”).

This version of the Privacy Policy applies to the Phase 1 North American release of the App and is currently intended for users located in the United States and Canada.

By accessing or using the App, you acknowledge the data practices described in this Privacy Policy. Your use of the App is also governed by our Terms of Use, Safety & Disclaimer, and, where applicable, Subscription Terms. Sidao Tech, LLC is responsible for the processing described in this Privacy Policy.

1. TYPES OF INFORMATION WE COLLECT AND THEIR PURPOSES

We collect information reasonably necessary to operate our business, provide AI-assisted culinary features, protect the Services, support users, and comply with legal obligations.

A. AI Model Training and Business Analysis

To improve our AI scan, recipe, cooking know-how, coaching, and cooking-tool features, we may perform aggregate analysis on de-identified data such as scan results, non-identifiable image-derived labels, recipe interaction events, cooking-tool usage events, app usage events, and diagnostics.

Privacy Guard: When processing images, we use reasonable technical measures, where feasible, to reduce exposure of faces or identifiable physical features and to limit data that can be linked back to a specific individual.

Current Practice: In Phase 1, we do not use personally identifiable information (PII), raw un-anonymized user photos, or identifiable user uploads for offline model training, sale, or unrelated independent commercial purposes. If our practices change, we will update this Policy and obtain any consent required by law.

B. Specific Data Categories

User Profile and Account Information: When you create or use an account, we may collect information such as your email address, username, password-related authentication data, and account identifiers. If you use Third-Party Logins (e.g., Sign in with Apple), we only access the necessary information authorized by you (such as email or user identifier).

User-Generated Content (UGC): Depending on the features you use, we may collect content you create or upload, such as food, cooking, cookware, or utensil photos, visible cookware or utensil markings, scan inputs, optional notes, saved-recipe names, cooking notes, reminder details, timer-plan names and settings, Food Date Tracker entries, support-request descriptions and attachments, user selections or confirmations, scan results, recipe interactions, cooking know-how interactions, scenario/situation/technique/ingredient coaching inputs, sauce-ratio values, estimated nutrition information, food-preparation status signals, food-safety risk signals, image-quality signals, and related metadata.

Recipe Search Information: When the App uses our online recipe service, we may receive the search terms, filters, or ingredient selections you submit, together with limited technical request information, to return matching recipes, maintain service security, troubleshoot failures, and improve search quality. Recent-search suggestions stored only on your device are not uploaded solely because they appear in that local list.

AI Scan, Recipe, Coaching, and Food-Related Inputs: When you use photo-based recognition, cookware and utensil recognition, preparation-status recognition, recipe library features, cooking know-how, Coach by Scenario, Coach by Situation, Coach by Technique, Coach by Ingredient, nutrition estimates, or cooking tools, we may process the photos, visible markings, scan inputs, optional notes, user selections, confirmations, tool inputs, and related food, cooking, or equipment information you provide to generate App functionality.

Third-Party AI Processing: We may use third-party AI and cloud service providers to process food, cooking, label, and scan inputs only as reasonably necessary to provide App functionality, operate safety controls, prevent abuse, troubleshoot, and improve service reliability. We require service providers that receive personal information to protect it consistently with this Privacy Policy and applicable law. We do not authorize them to use identifiable user photos or inputs for their own independent advertising or unrelated commercial purposes.

Before the first photo-based upload, the App asks you to authorize cloud and AI processing of the photos you choose. You may close that notice and continue without uploading, or change this choice later in Settings. Withdrawing authorization blocks future photo-based uploads but does not affect recipes, cooking knowledge, or local tools. Information already processed or retained as described in this Policy remains subject to the applicable retention rules.

Ordinary AI scan photos are temporary input media. We do not keep the original photos long-term by default for ordinary AI scan traceability. We may keep limited structured operational, security, and safety records that do not require retaining the original photo. Food Date Tracker may keep a compressed private display thumbnail only when you save the item to your account; unsaved Food Date Tracker photos are treated as temporary input media.

Please avoid uploading sensitive personal information, medical records, diagnosis information, unrelated personal documents, images of other people, or information that is not needed for the App’s food, recipe, cooking, cooking-tool, coaching, or scan-based features. The App does not require you to provide medical diagnosis information or professional health records to use Phase 1 features.

Food, ingredient, nutrition, recipe, coaching, timer, food-date tracking, sauce-ratio, and cooking-related outputs may be generated from AI, automated systems, or general content libraries and may be inaccurate or incomplete. These outputs are provided to support App functionality and are not medical advice, professional nutrition advice, professional food-safety advice, or a substitute for your own judgment.

Safety-related outputs in cooking know-how, Coach by Scenario, Coach by Situation, Coach by Technique, Coach by Ingredient, Scan Coach, recipe guidance, and cooking tools are informational only. They do not determine whether food affected by spoilage, off odors, time-temperature abuse, cross-contamination, allergen exposure, raw or undercooked animal foods, hot oil, fire, smoke, or other hazards is safe to prepare, serve, or eat.

Feature-Specific Boundaries: Scan Coach and preparation-status outputs cannot confirm safe doneness, safe handling, or readiness to eat. Protein and calorie outputs are estimates and are not medical, weight-loss, fitness, or professional nutrition advice. Cookware & Utensils identification is an estimate and cannot confirm material, coatings, condition, heat resistance, appliance or heat-source compatibility, suitability for a particular cookware surface, cleaning compatibility, or safe use; verify visible markings and manufacturer instructions. Ingredient recognition and recipe matching do not determine whether an ingredient is safe, fresh, uncontaminated, or suitable for a particular person. Food Date Tracker records printed dates and user-entered information; it does not determine freshness, spoilage, food quality, or whether food is safe to eat. Food Date Tracker does not support infant formula in this release; follow the instructions on the original package. Timers and sauce-ratio tools are convenience tools and do not replace supervision, label directions, equipment instructions, a food thermometer, or your own safety checks.

Location and Network Information: We do not collect precise GPS coordinates in the current Phase 1 App. Our services may automatically receive an IP address and basic network information for service delivery, security, fraud prevention, diagnostics, and approximate regional routing.

Financial Data and Subscription Entitlements: In Phase 1, all iOS subscription and in-app purchase transactions are processed by Apple. Sidao Tech, LLC does not have access to your credit card, bank account, or full payment details. We may receive limited subscription-related information from Apple or our systems, such as product identifiers, subscription status, transaction identifiers, receipt or entitlement information, and renewal or expiration status, as needed to provide and manage paid access. If we later release Android billing or other payment channels, we will update this Policy as needed.

C. Cookies and Tracking Technologies

On our website, we may use cookies and similar technologies that are necessary for site operation, security, and basic analytics. In the App, we may collect app performance, diagnostics, and usage events needed to provide, secure, and improve the Services. We do not use third-party advertising trackers in the App unless we update this Policy and obtain any required consent.

Opt-out: You may adjust browser cookie preferences through your browser settings. We do not currently sell or share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising. If our practices change, we will update this Policy and provide required choices.

2. HOW WE USE YOUR INFORMATION

We use your data based on the following legal grounds

Service Delivery: Creating and managing user accounts, providing Apple-managed subscription access, generating AI-driven photo-based cooking coaching, scan results, recipe suggestions, cooking know-how, scenario/situation/technique/ingredient coaching, cooking-tool functionality, nutrition estimates, cookware and utensil recognition, preparation-status recognition, step-by-step cooking guidance, and safety-related suggestions.

Customer Support: Responding to your inquiries and technical issues.

Product Improvement: Analyzing usage patterns to iterate on App features.

Compliance: Meeting legal obligations, such as responding to subpoenas or government investigations.

Business Operations: Managing internal systems, security, and potential corporate transactions (e.g., mergers or asset sales).

3. CONTENT COMPLIANCE

We strictly prohibit the generation or display of content that violates Apple App Store Review Guidelines, including pornography, violence, hate speech, or dangerous instructions. We reserve the right to delete non-compliant content and suspend accounts.

4. DATA RETENTION

We retain personal information only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this Policy, including providing the Services, maintaining security, preventing fraud, resolving disputes, meeting payment and accounting obligations, and complying with law. When information is no longer needed, we delete or de-identify it using reasonable measures.

Temporary AI scan photos, temporary uploads, and temporary provider processing data are deleted as soon as reasonably practical and no later than 24 hours. Technical processing, retry, timeout, and troubleshooting records are retained for up to 30 days during the initial launch period and up to 14 days after the product reaches the approved stable-retention stage.

We may retain a limited structured investigation record for up to 18 months during the initial launch period. After at least one year of stable operation and the required safety, complaint-cycle, version-management, and legal reviews, that period may be reduced to 12 months. This record may include the scan time and type, the structured result shown to the user, whether the user confirmed or changed it, applicable model/schema/safety/disclaimer versions, bounded request or error identifiers, and the minimum account link needed for investigation. It does not ordinarily include the original photo, EXIF or GPS data, a provider’s full raw response, full prompt content, credentials, or unrelated device fingerprinting.

Records associated with a complaint, safety incident, or legal dispute may be placed on a restricted legal hold and excluded from ordinary deletion until the hold is released. Legal-hold data is restricted to necessary personnel and is not used for unrelated analytics or marketing.

Saved Food Date Tracker thumbnails remain private account content until the item or account is deleted, unless a longer retention period is required for security, dispute handling, or law. Saved Recipes, Cooking Notes, Reminders, the latest synced Timer configuration, and Food Date Tracker records remain with the account until the user deletes the record or account, subject to the limited exceptions described above. Sauce Calculator inputs and results remain on the current device and are not stored with the PlateThis account.

5. YOUR DATA RIGHTS

Depending on your place of residence and applicable law, you may have the right to:

Access/Correct/Delete your personal information.

Restrict or Object to certain data processing activities.

Data Portability: Receive eligible personal information in a structured, machine-readable format.

Withdraw Consent: At any time, where processing is based on consent.

To submit a formal privacy request for access, a copy of applicable data, information about use, correction, deletion, restriction, portability, or another applicable right, choose Privacy & Data Request in the App’s Contact Us form or contact support@platethisai.com. We may need to verify your identity before disclosing personal information and track the request through the period required by applicable law. PlateThis does not provide a self-service account-download page in this release.

Account deletion may be initiated through Settings > Manage Account > Delete Account and All Data. Account deletion requests are normally processed within 24 hours, although limited records may be retained when reasonably necessary for security, fraud prevention, payment records, legal compliance, legal hold, or dispute handling. Account deletion does not automatically cancel an Apple-managed subscription; you must manage subscription cancellation through your Apple account settings. Where Sign in with Apple is used, we also process the associated sign-in credential revocation as required.

6. U.S. STATE AND CANADIAN PRIVACY RIGHTS

Depending on applicable U.S. state privacy laws, including the California Consumer Privacy Act as amended by the CPRA, residents may have additional rights:

Right to Know: Request disclosure of categories of data collected and shared in the past 12 months.

Right to Opt-Out: If we ever sell or share personal information as defined by CCPA/CPRA, choose to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising.

Non-Discrimination: We will not discriminate against you for exercising your privacy rights.

Depending on applicable Canadian privacy law, including the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act and substantially similar provincial laws, Canadian residents may have rights to request access to or correction of personal information, withdraw consent where consent is the legal basis for processing, and challenge our compliance. Withdrawing consent may limit features that require the affected information. You may also contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada or the applicable provincial privacy regulator.

7. DATA SECURITY

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to protect personal information, including encryption in transit and at rest where appropriate and access controls. No method of transmission, storage, or security is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee that unauthorized access, loss, misuse, or alteration will never occur.

8. INTERNATIONAL DATA TRANSFERS

Our servers are located in the United States. By using the App, your information will be transferred to and stored in the U.S.

Remote Access: Authorized personnel and service providers in other regions, including China, may have limited remote access to de-identified data or necessary operational data for maintenance, support, security, and service improvement. Such access is limited to legitimate business purposes and is subject to access controls and confidentiality and security obligations.

9. CHILDREN’S PRIVACY

Our Services are not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we learn that we have collected personal information from a child under 13, we will delete it as required by law. Users between 13 and 18 should use the Services only with parent or legal guardian supervision.

10. GOVERNING LAW AND ARBITRATION

This Privacy Policy is governed by the laws identified in our Terms of Use, subject to any mandatory rights under applicable privacy law. Disputes relating to this Privacy Policy are handled under the dispute-resolution provisions of the Terms of Use, except where applicable law provides otherwise.
